I don’t know about you but I am so glad that it is Friday.  I’ve been going 100 mph this week with school activities, doctor appointments and work meetings…and the craziness continues this weekend.  Of course it does, right? I am so glad that Thanksgiving is next week and we’ll be able to simply relax (don’t laugh) and hang out with our family. Ok, now you can laugh. At least we go into it with the thought of relaxation. Optimism people.

Time to jump into my FAVORITES from this week.

I thought it would be great to start off with a Mammogram PSA.   I felt something abnormal during a monthly check and continued to notice it over time. It remained unchanged in size and was sometimes painful to the touch.  Only my family and a few close friends knew of my concern, but I wasn’t necessarily worried either.  So during my yearly exam I talked to my doctor about it and she suggested a mammogram. Thankfully, I was able to get an appointment fairly quickly to have everything checked out.  It turns out what I was feeling is a benign mass that is pretty common (fibroadenoma ). So they will watch it over time and I’ll have ultrasounds every six months for the next two years.  I’m glad that I finally had it checked out and now have peace of mind that everything is okay. Not knowing and waiting is scary, and leaves time to create scenarios in your head, which ultimately results in your husband repeatedly “needing” to “check to see if it’s gotten bigger”.

This week I felt like I was at the girl’s school everyday!  I got to enjoy my FAVORITE school lunch – Thanksgiving!!  Our school district has one of the best Thanksgiving lunches and I got to have it twice this week.

I was also the mystery reader for Abigail’s class and she was so surprised. Mystery reader is a chance to simply come in and read a book to the kids. They love it, your own kids are SO excited you are there and it’s a good opportunity to be involved at school.

I love that I am able to get away from work and do fun things at the girl’s school.

I love decorating for Christmas every year!  Because of Danny’s crazy travel schedule we decided to go ahead and do it this week. I’ve been busy decorating the house every day, and honestly, it seems like it gets to be more and more work every year! I love it though 🙂 I still have a few things to do, but for the most part everything is done.  Now we can just sit back and enjoy the pretty decorations. Danny says it takes him an extra 20 minutes to turn everything off before bed during Christmas season, lol. We need a main switch or something. Anyone else feel that pain?

This weekend we will be participating in DNOW (Discipleship Now). It is one of the most amazing weekends for our church youth and we will be a host home for six – 9th grade girls.  Being a host home simply means that we open our home to the kids to have a place to engage in the discussions and make sure they get up and go to bed on time.  The kids we are hosting have a great leader, as always, who will lead them through several devotionals.  We’re looking forward to hanging out with these girls all weekend and our girls love it as well!!

    1. We have three trees – one that is the “pretty tree” for everyone to see, one that has all the special & hand made kid ornaments, and one in upstairs game room area. We love Christmas time in our household. Hope you have a great weekend!

  1. Yay for being featured! Great list of favorites from the week and YES to the PSA! I am pretty sure Brandon has the same feeling and has said the same thing as Danny about the time it takes to turn all of the lights off at night. Hahahaha! Enjoy your weekend and I look forward to seeing your Stitch Fix review. Have a great Friday!

    1. Thanks! Not only the time it takes but I always forget how much our electricity bill increases during Christmas time because we have all of the lights plugged in!! Oh well it is just once a year. Hope you guys have a Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. Congrats on being the featured blogger! 🙂 That’s how I found you. And I’m jealous of your Christmas decorating already – I cannot get my husband to go along with that until after Thanksgiving. I know it’s reasonable, but I’m itching to break it all out this weekend anyway 🙂

  3. I’m so happy you were able to get in for a mammogram quickly. Waiting IS the hardest and you are absolutely right, it totally messes with your head. I had to start having mammograms in my early 30’s. Better safe than sorry. You have a precious family! Congrats on being the featured blogger. Isn’t that flattering?!?!?! Have a great weekend!

  4. Your tree is beautiful! I really am thinking I’m ready to put mine up…I just need some cozy lights. If we ever build a house I will totally have a switch by the door for the outdoor lights! You have had a memorable week friend. Hope you have an amazing weekend.

  5. Good for you on getting everything checked out. Now you can rest easy. I had my annual mammogram this week and I’m always a little glad to have it over with ! Have a great weekend!

  6. Oh, how I need to schedule my mammogram! Thanks for the reminder. You have a beautiful family and I put up our main tree about two weeks ago. Everything else will get done the weekend after Thanksgiving!
