Last night I arrived home from a wonderful vacation in New York City. Danny is currently working on a project for a company in New Jersey, so we arranged a trip around his travel schedule. We had a great time just hanging out together and touring the city. Danny found an amazing hotel – The Park Lane Hotel. The hotel was located at the south end of Central Park and our room had an amazing view of the park.
The first night we were there we had dinner at Tao. We both agreed this was the best Chinese food we had ever had. I also tried Sake for the first time and it was so good.
Friday morning we got up at 5 a.m. so that we could walk to the Today Show. Last time we were here in 2002 things were completely different than they are now. It was really neat to see how the show is produced behind the cameras. I also love seeing all the hosts up close and personal. And the best part was we actually made it on TV.
We also won one of the Freebie Friday prizes!
After the Today Show we walked back to our hotel and had breakfast at Sarabeth’s. The food was amazing.
We decided that we would go ahead and head to the Statue of Liberty on Friday because the weather was going to be bad on Saturday and a lot colder. So we took advantage of the beautiful weather and took the ferry out to see the Statue of Liberty.
After we got back we continued walking around the city to see the World Trade Center Memorial, the One World building and other sites around the area.
We had a very busy Friday but we ended it with having drinks at a really nice Lounge with a beautiful view of the city.
Saturday morning we walked through Central Park and enjoyed the time just being together.
We ended up at the Natural Museum of History. Danny had surprised me with tickets to go inside the planetarium.
After we finished there we got on the subway and headed to Times Square. By the time we got there the snow had started. It was so beautiful to walk through the city in the snow and it was VERY cold.
We came back to the hotel and warmed up and got ready for the New York Philharmonic. This was an amazing experience to go inside the Lincoln Center and listen to some beautiful music.
After the concert, we headed downtown to another trendy lounge and we ended the night doing some people watching and enjoying some great drinks.
We decided that we would start the day with a trip to the Empire State Building.
We then stopped at Grand Central Station…
We then came back to the hotel relaxed and watched movies all afternoon. And then Sunday night Danny surprised me with going to Serendipity 3 for dessert.
See you next time New York City!
Overall this was one of the best vacations we have had in the past couple of year for mmany reasons When you have a traveling husband like I do, you cherish every minute spent together. It is so important for your marriage to find time and get away at least once a year (and more if you can). We had so much fun seeing all the sites around the city and making so many wonderful memories. I can’t wait for our next trip away!
