Our summer has been crazy busy! We have not had a relaxing or typical weekend yet due to travel, camps, sleepovers, days on the lake, etc… So I decided to share our weekend in Washington DC.
Friday morning we woke up early and we were ready to see as many museums as we could that day. Our first stop was the Air and Space Museum. This is one our favorite museums. We spent about 2.5 hours walking around the building and we were even able to squeeze in a 20-minute film about the Sun.
After the museum visit, we headed straight for the Capital for our scheduled tour.
Walking around the Capital was amazing.
After the tour, we had time for a one more museum visit. We decided to go to the Natural History Museum.
Friday night we decided to just hang out in the hotel room and order pizza. It was the perfect way to end our busy day of walking around DC.
When we were planning our vacation to Washington DC Abigail had one request – Spy Museum! So we woke up early Saturday morning and headed to the International Spy Museum. I only got a few pictures because we were too busy having fun.
We spent the afternoon at the American History Museum. I loved this museum!! They had so many great exhibits and some fun interactive activities for the kids to do.
We passed by the White House at least three times a day!! So on one of our many trips, we stopped to take a picture at the White House.
We had dinner out one of favorite DC restaurants – Legal Sea Foods! Danny ordered this huge platter that had lobster, mussels, and clams. Dinner was amazing!
After dinner, we had some yummy cupcakes at Red Velvet Cupcakery.
Sunday morning we woke up to some amazing weather and then hopped into a Uber and headed to the National Zoo.
(Zoo Disclaimer) We have been to a lot of amazing zoos and this one just okay.
The best part of visiting this zoo is it FREE!!! We spent the morning walking around the zoo seeing some fun animals.
We were starving after a morning at the zoo and we were really wanting some good barbecue. Lucky for us we found a place in Washington DC that had amazing food!
and the carrot cake was to die for.
Sunday afternoon we spent relaxing in the hotel room watching TV and acting snack – so nice! We then got dressed for dinner at Carmine’s.
I have always wanted to walk around DC at night. So after dinner we headed back to the National Mall and enjoyed a nice leisurely walk back to our hotel.
Our weekend in DC was filled with a lot of walking, yummy food, and so many great memories.
