Making Memories

Washington DC Vacation – Day Five & Six

Happy Monday!  Today I am recapping our last two days in DC.

***warning lot’s of pictures***

However, you want to see our exciting Day Six ūüôā

Day Five

Monday we woke up and decided to have a relaxing day walking around DC.  We started our morning by going to the National Archives.  I have no pictures from this museum because you are not allowed to take ANY pictures inside.  The girls did enjoy seeing the Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.  We then headed to the National Portrait Gallery before we had lunch.

I was so excited about lunch!  I have always wanted to try the Shake Shack, eek!!

After lunch, we stopped by Ford’s Theatre. ¬†We did not have tickets to go inside but the girls were able to see where Lincoln was shot.

and where he passed away.

After lunch, we walked to the¬†United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.¬† However, before our scheduled tour time we stopped for some ice cream. ¬†I’m pretty sure we had ice cream almost every day because there are vendors ALL over the place.

No words can describe the emotions that one experiences while visiting the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.  The girls are too young to understand the magnitude of what happened, but this was one museum that Danny and I really enjoyed. It was an amazing museum.

We ended the day at another DC favorite –Old Ebbitt Grill.¬†This is one of our favorite places to eat when we visit DC and it did not disappoint.

Day Six

Finally, the big day has arrived, our visit to the WHITE HOUSE!!

We were all excited about this tour.  Thank goodness for a friend of a friend that got us this tour.

When I saw this view I immediately thought of Scandal, haha!

Walking through the White House was so amazing.

Our last stop before we went to the airport was the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

This was very interesting…

One last selfie… I am so thankful for my amazing travel companion.

We had a couple of hours to kill before our plane took off so we hung out in the Admiral’s Club. ¬†The girls had a great view of Danny’s plane taking off. ¬†Both of them used their devices to record his take off, crazy girls.

I also had a wonderful view of Washington DC as we took off.

This family vacation was full of so many great memories. ¬†I know that the girls will always remember this vacation. ¬†Now time to start planning next summer’s vacation – HAWAII!!!

Just in case you missed Day One – Day Four…
