10 on 10 – Top 10 Memories with Danny

Today I’m sharing my top 10 memories with Danny.  Let me start by saying they’re not in any particular order.  I hope you enjoy my look back at our last 18 years…

ONE – Our Engagement

I’ll never forget November 16, 2002.  Danny planned a surprise trip to New York City.  He had the weekend all planned out.  Saturday afternoon we walked through Central Park and while we were walking across a special bridge to us, he got down on one knee and proposed to me.

When we went back to New York City last year and we went back to our bridge…

I can’t wait to take the girls here next month.

TWO – Our Wedding Day

I can’t believe it has been almost 15 years since the day I walked down the aisle and said “I Do” to the man of my dreams.

THREE – College

Since we met in college we’ve made so many great memories that I can’t list them all here. However, one of my favorite memories is going to the Texas A&M football games with him.  And my all time favorite memory is when I met him at Poking You Tattoo… that’s a story for another day.

FOUR – Paris

Our whirlwind trip to Paris was a trip of a lifetime!  It was a last minute decision and I’m so glad that I was able to join him on his business trip.  Even though we were only in Paris for 48 hours it was the perfect amount of time.

FIVE – New York City

Last year was the first time we had been back to NYC since our engagement.  This time since we were not poor college kids we were able to really enjoy the city.  And we had more time to see all of the sights.   New York City will always have a special place in my heart.

SIX – Parachute

Danny has had a lot of hobbies over the years and I’ve never joined him in his adventures.  Until now… This past summer, Danny starting skydiving so I thought it was time to join him in this new hobby.  I completed my first skydive this past Fall.  I plan to go again later this Spring.

SEVEN – China

A couple of years ago, Danny had a business trip to Manila.   Once again, I was able to take off from work and join Danny on this trip.  Our plan was once he was finished with his meeting in Manila, we’d fly home and have a layover in Beijing.  We were only in Beijing for 24 hours, but we crammed as much as in as we could during that time.

EIGHT – Rome

We’ve always loved to travel.  Before we had kids, we planned a trip to Europe.  We had planned to go with my best friend and her husband but plans changed because of jobs.  However, we still had our plane tickets so we decided to just go to Rome for a week.   Rome was amazing!  We love history and being able to see all of this historic sights in person was amazing.   I loved being with Danny in this very romantic city.

NINE – Birth of our daughters

I’ve always wanted to be a mom and I knew Danny would be an amazing father. When we brought both of the girls into this world, it was a life changing experience.  Seeing Danny hold our girls in his arms for the first time brought tears to my eyes.

TEN – First Valentine’s Day

Our first Valentine’s day was so romantic!  We were just a few weeks away from our one year dating anniversary and we knew that we were going to be together forever.  Danny came over to my house and made the most amazing dinner. Champagne Chicken and Arugula Salad. We’ve tried to recreate this meal but it has never been as good as that night. Danny also gave me a journal.  This journal is very special because I write in it for one year and then the next year on Valentine’s Day I give it back to him and he writes in it for that year. We’ve gone back and forth since 2001. 17 years of journaling our highs, lows, amazings, so-so’s and love. We are now in our 3rd journal and I’ll be giving it back to him on Wednesday.

  1. Oh my goodness!! I LOVE that journal idea. Y’all have been all around the world together, and I loved hearing all about your trips together. We went to NYC together too, but it wasn’t quite as romantic as getting engaged. (My man sprained his ankle in a pot hole on the sidewalk! So dramatic)! Thanks for sharing with us, and here’s to 100 more years together.

  2. SO many wonderful memories! I have accompanied my husband on a few work trips and some of those last minute trips where we only had a short bit of time do have some of the best memories!

  3. OH Jessica! I LOVE that journal idea. What a fun way to look back on all the things that make a life and family. What a great idea! I love that you both swap years. You guys have been to some amazing places too!
